"Internal network card has been de-activated to optimize battery life" message will not disappear.
Whenever I unplug my laptop, the "Your internal network card has been de-activated to optimize battery life." message appears. Lately, the message does not disappear, even when I plug my laptop back in. When I move my cursor over the message, it gives me a "waiting" mouse icon and I am unable to click it. I believe this is due to a virus or me accidentally modifying an important file, but I do not know which and I do not know how to get rid of this problem.1 person needs an answerI do too

Windows XP professional version 2002 Dell Inspiron ME051

I knew it was a Dell and know how to disable the message (which is supposed to appear), but don't know why when you plug whatever you are unplugging back in, the message does not go away - did it used to go away? It seems like a useful informative message and not an error message.I can't seem to find any information about your system on the Dell WWW site either to check your network drivers, so hopefully someone else will have the magic bullet for your situation. There are user forums onthe Dell WWW page where you might ask your question to be viewed by just Dell people. If you think malware might be involved, I would start with this: Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/They can be uninstalled later if desired. When the scans run clean, then troubleshoot any remaining issues. Don't guess what the problem might be - figure it out and fix it. I need YOUR votes and points for helpful replies and Propose as Answers. I am saving up for a pony!

Malwarebytes took care of the problem, thank you.

Wowee. That was fortunate!I will add that to my sparse notes I already have regarding the issue (never actually seen it before). If you still have MBAM installed, it would be appreciated if you can post the contents of the log file showing what MBAM found and what it did about it (look in he MBAM Logs tab). Here is an example log file with no problems, but it would be nice to see yours:Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46www.malwarebytes.orgDatabase version: 4147Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.115/27/2010 10:23:33 AMmbam-log-2010-05-27 (10-23-33).txtScan type: Full scan (C:\|D:\|)Objects scanned: 54Time elapsed: 18 second(s)Memory Processes Infected: 0Memory Modules Infected: 0Registry Keys Infected: 0Registry Values Infected: 0Registry Data Items Infected: 0Folders Infected: 0Files Infected: 0Memory Processes Infected:(No malicious items detected)Memory Modules Infected:(No malicious items detected)Registry Keys Infected:(No malicious items detected)Registry Values Infected:(No malicious items detected)Registry Data Items Infected:(No malicious items detected)Folders Infected:(No malicious items detected)Files Infected:(No malicious items detected) Don't guess what the problem might be - figure it out and fix it. also have been me deactivating and reactivating the battery message which someone else recommended and which I did after the scan. It was probably because of the Malware scan though.
